After enrollment,
the term continues
until the student has accumulated
2100 hours, the number required by the State Board of Cosmetology.
Students must have a high school
diploma or GED certificate. Any student having difficulty
with curriculum
will be given
special instruction in order that
he may graduate with his class and will qualify for state
boards. Each
student must have attained the age of 17 before enrollment,
must be free of any contagious
diseases, be physically capable, and have a personal interview
with the registrar.
Students are expected
to answer roll daily at 8:00 a.m. unless excused by the
management for some valid reason.
Excused

given for
weddings
or deaths of immediate family, close relatives or friends,
for vacations or sickness. All absences are recorded
and classified as excused
or unexcused. If a student is absent three consecutive
days without
notification
or
unauthorization, they will be dropped from the roll and
will have to be reinstated with
management’s
permission.
It is school policy that any interruptions
due to absences, tardiness, willful neglect of makeup
work, class cuts
or irregular attendance
will be considered
negligence of interest and after discussion and fair
warning will result in dismissal if continued. If student
is incorrigible
or
does not show
honest effort to comply with school rules and regulations
they will be dismissed.
The students are
rated on personality and clinical work. The following grading
system is used:
A: Excellent
B: Good
C: Passing
D: Failing
All theory grades are recorded numerically
and a grade of 75 is considered passing. Tests are given
frequently
and
over
units.
A final test
of 200 questions is
given immediately prior to completions of the
required 2100 hours. A grade above 75 is passing. This complies
with the
State Board
grading system.
Students
who have earned credit in other beauty schools within the
state of Iowa may apply
for transfer of
hours and will
be given full
credit for
said
hours if accumulated within a reasonable time
before entering Le Mars Beauty College. Credit
earned
in schools outside
the state
will be
evaluated by
comparison with our state curriculum and by
examination and appropriate credit for same
will be given.
All students are expected to be
well groomed and conduct themselves in a professional
manner. Violation
of the
rules of good conduct
may result
in
dismissal. If
a student shows no aptitude for the work
within the first month or two, he will be given a
chance to
continue or
drop as he
wishes. Students are
periodically
notified of their progress.
Students dropping the course of study
will be charged for the first 300
hours and for
any additional
hours accumulated.
All money paid
to the school in excess of these pro-rota charges shall be
